501 (see three) ARTS is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit organization that supports the creation and presentation of dance, music, theater, and film projects by artists Dan Froot, Victoria Marks, and Lionel Popkin. Dan Froot & Company(DF&Co) is an unofficial d.b.a. of 501 (see three) ARTS. DF&Co’s work centers equity, inclusion, and accessibility—bringing dance, theater, and music into direct conversation with communities around issues such as environmental justice, disability, food insecurity, and gun violence.
Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) strengthens the administrative and operational backbone of Dan Froot & Company. Working in close collaboration with Dan Froot, the GM supports alignment among artistic programming, fundraising, financial management, and communications. The position helps ensure that the organization’s systems and workflows reflect its core values of equity, sustainability, and community engagement.
This is a part-time non-exempt position, averaging approximately 6 hours per week (15% FTE). Hours may fluctuate from week to week depending on workload and deadlines. The employee must track all hours worked and obtain Dan’s express permission before exceeding the 6-hour weekly average.
Primary Responsibilities
Administrative and Financial Coordination

Assist with organizational budgeting, expense tracking, and financial documentation in coordination with Dan Froot and fiscal accountant.

Maintain project timelines, deliverables, and reporting calendars for multiple concurrent grant-funded projects.

Support ensemble communications, scheduling, and document management (e.g., meeting notes, contact lists, contracts).
Development and Fundraising Support

Assist in preparing, drafting, tracking, and submitting grant reports and proposals.

Maintain donor and funder records; help coordinate thank-you letters and acknowledgments.

Support implementation of the organization’s fundraising and communications strategies.
Program and Production Support

Help coordinate logistical and administrative aspects of artist residencies, performances, and community engagement events.

Liaise with partner organizations to track schedules, accessibility services, and evaluation data.

Support audience communications and event promotion in collaboration with Dan and the project team.
Equity and Accessibility Integration

Ensure that administrative processes reflect the organization’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion (e.g., budgeting for ASL, captioning, translation, and travel stipends).

Contribute to the development of policies and practices that uphold the organization’s values of social responsibility and community care.
Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit or arts management (experience with small or artist-led organizations preferred).

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Comfort with digital administrative tools (including Google Workspace, QuickBooks, Airtable, Dropbox, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, values-driven team.

Familiarity with socially engaged or community-based art practices is a plus.
Schedule and Structure

Average of 6 hours per week, with flexibility to distribute work across weeks as appropriate.

Employee must communicate with Dan Froot if they are approaching the weekly average and must not exceed it without prior approval.

Includes a consistent 2-hour weekly remote co-working session with Dan, scheduled at a mutually agreed time.

Additional work time will be remote, with occasional in-person meetings or attendance at rehearsals/events in Los Angeles.
Compensation and Benefits
-
Hourly classification: Non-exempt, paid monthly ($1,225/month).

Payroll: Paid via direct deposit or check.

Expense reimbursement: Whenever possible, expenses are paid directly by the organization. When reimbursement is necessary, it will be issued via Zelle.

Professional Development Stipend: Up to $100 per year for professional development opportunities approved in advance by Dan Froot.
