SALA is a series of free Saturday morning gatherings that bring communities together across Los Angeles through food, music, literature, and theater. Coordinated by LA-based theater ensemble, Dan Froot & Company, six L.A. neighborhoods have the opportunity to host a SALA event during summer 2026. Representatives of each community curate a selection of published and hot-off-the-press essays to be performed by well-known actors. Local favorite musicians set the vibe, and everyone is invited to enjoy food and drink prepared by a neighborhood chef.
Each SALA event celebrates L.A.’s local voices and cultures, while exploring how art can imagine new ways of being together, and enact new futures. All six communities are encouraged to attend each other’s SALA events, knitting our diverse neighborhoods together through arts and culture.
SALA is facilitated by Dan Froot & Company in partnership with community organizations throughout Los Angeles.
Dan Froot & Company is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit theater ensemble creating original, community-engaged projects that foster dialogue across difference. Our award-winning work has been presented locally, internationally, and throughout the U.S., taking on such topics as hunger, generational trauma, and the gun debate, with warmth, sensitivity, and humor.

Join Us as a Community Partner
We’re seeking a few community partners – such as cultural centers, nonprofits, arts organizations, neighborhood organizations, faith communities, libraries, or social clubs – to host a SALA gathering. Partner organizations receive:

A financial contribution to support staff and facility costs

City-wide visibility and co-branding as a SALA partner

Accessibility support (ASL, captioning, interpretation, etc.)
