Literature. Music. Food. Community.
SALA is the room where it happens.

A series of free gatherings that bring communities together across Los Angeles through literary readings, food, music.

Coordinated by LA-based theater ensemble, Dan Froot & Company, four L.A. neighborhoods host SALA events during summer 2026. Representatives from each community curate a selection of essays, poems, articles, or short stories to be performed by some of your favorite actors and neighborhood personalities.

is facilitated by Dan Froot & Company in partnership with community organizations throughout Los Angeles.

Each SALA event celebrates L.A.’s local voices and cultures, while exploring how art can imagine new ways of being together. All four communities are encouraged to attend each other’s SALA events, knitting our diverse neighborhoods together through art and culture.

Dan Froot & Company is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit theater ensemble creating original, community-engaged projects that foster dialogue across difference. Our award-winning work has been presented locally, internationally, and throughout the U.S., taking on such topics as hunger, generational trauma, and the gun debate, with warmth, sensitivity, and humor.
